A half-day visit to a jara (log-hive) apiary in a nearby village, where bees still live in hollowed-out logs the way they did 200 years ago. The beekeeper opens a hive, talks about the seasons, and we taste the honey — a single-origin, dark, slightly floral mountain honey that doesn't exist outside the area. After the apiary we walk the village, stop at a family for tea, and head back. It's a quieter, more contemplative outing — guests come back with a small jar of honey and a much better sense of what "local" means here. Great as a half-day add-on between fuller activities. Wedding guests arriving early often do this on the welcome day. Retreat groups slot it after a long practice day.
